Kalamkari is an ancient form of painting that develop in India over a period of 3,000 years. Kalamkari painting is a Indian folk textile art, it is a type of hand-painted or block-printed cotton textile. In Persian language the meaning of kalamkari ( Kalam-‘Pen’, Kari- ‘craftmanship’) is drawing with a pen. Andra Pradesh is believed to be the place of origin of this art.
There are two distinctive styles of Kalamkari art: Srikalahasti style and Machalipatnam
