Tiruchengode

Tiruchengode
The Arthanareeswarar Temple
Ardhanareeswarar, one of the 64 manifestations of Shiva, representing the unity of Shiva and Parvati,
Tiruchengode is located in Namakkal district, south of Salem district and east of Erode district.
his ancient hill temple according to the inscriptions on the walls must have been built about 2000 years ago.
This is one of the ancient Saiva kshetras of unparalleled spiritual significance and legendary importance. According to sthalapurana, it is one of the five hills deemed exceedingly sacred and it is here lord Siva in the Ardhanareeswara form is demonstrating to the world that female is as important as male Sri Sakthi is to be adored with great veneration. There are mandaps here with exquisitely sculptured pillars bearing the carvings..

Another special plus point it claims is-the existence of 60 steps called Satyapadi, means thereby, step of truth and are held very potent. Standing on the last step - the 60th step going by the name of Arubhadarn padi none dares speaking lie, or denying the crime committed. One's own revelation or commission passes for
the final word as binding as the judge's verdict. A unique phenomenon to be admired.this kshetra is - the Nandi in standing posture.
